Maria Olga Vlachou | Visual Artist & Heritage Researcher

Maria Olga Vlachou operates at the intersection of intangible heritage and digital craftsmanship. Her practice does not merely document tradition; she has invented a visual language designed to circulate intangible heritage within contemporary digital ecosystems.Through her primary research body, POSTFOLK, Vlachou treats the dot as a unit of cultural memory. By transcoding traditional Greek embroidery into a syntax of Digital Pointillism, she releases folk archetypes from the static archive, allowing them to flow through the "digital ether."

This process functions as a rigorous form of digitalised preservation of heritage, ensuring that the protective and ritualistic codes of the past remain active and current.
Her methodology reclaims the slow, deliberate pace of manual labor within the digital realm. Each work is constructed through a dot-by-dot methodology, a handcrafted data structure that resists automation. This approach serves as a bridge between the tactile history of the artisan and the virtual future of the screen.
Vlachou is based in Athens, engaging in international collaborations with cultural institutions such as the Greek National Opera and the Victoria G. Karelias Collection, creating works that function as "living archives" of collective identity.

Based in Athens, Greece, she maintains an international practice focused on institutional commissions and cultural collaborations.
